to the Symposium on Music, the Brain, Medicine and Wellness: presenting the state of the science in: the impact of music on the developing brain, cognition, language, memory, and emotion; the use of music to promote healing in patients with serious medical conditions including cancer, neurologic diseases, and developmental disorders; and the influence of music on the well-being of individuals and their communities.

Not A Scientist?

While the Symposium will provide an inspiring environment for researchers, physicians, and musicians to immerse themselves in the science of music and the brain, it will also offer an interesting and accessible opportunity for you to learn about the impact of music on your mind, your emotions, and your well-being. Symposium musicians include Alan Gilbert, Music Director of the New York Philharmonic; members of the former Guarneri String Quartet; Marc Neikrug, Artistic Director of the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, and internationally acclaimed pianist Inon Barnatan.

How

by launching an intensive cross-disciplinary exchange among renowned musicians and the scientists, physicians, and music therapists leading the world’s research on the influence of music on the brain, medicine, and wellness, in order to define the current state of the science and identify the most important questions for future collaborative research and its clinical applications, through presentations, demonstrations, and concert performances.
